Profile

Chi (ちー, Chī) is Takagi and Nishikata's daughter. She is the protagonist in the spin-off manga series, Karakai Jōzu no (Moto) Takagi-san and the female protagonist of Nishikata-chan. She is relatively mischievous like her mother, yet clumsy like her father. Her family name is Nishikata, and she is nicknamed Chi. Her first name is currently unknown.

Appearance[]

Chi is a young girl whose appearance takes after that of her mother's: she has brown eyes and brown, shoulder-length hair with middle-parted bangs. She also has a broad forehead.

As a middle schooler, she is of average height. Her appearance changes little and she has a strong resemblance to her mother as a teenager.

Personality[]

Similar to her mother, Chi is mischievous and enjoys teasing her father. She tries to tease and outwit her mother too but always fails. Despite this, she is very easily embarrassed herself, a trait she takes after Nishikata. Her personality is more like her father's and she is often teased by her mother. She makes similar facial expressions as her father. Chi is shown to be very loving and affectionate towards both of her parents.

Chi gets flustered very easily when teased by her seatmate or when her mother teases her about him.

Relationships[]

Takagi[]

Main article: Takagi

Takagi is Chi's mother. Chi and her mother love each other dearly. Chi also loves spending time with her mother and is almost always seen with her mother. Chi loves being cuddled or carried around by her mother. She feels the most safe and happy when she is with her parents. It is revealed in the Chapter 244 of (Moto) that the reason why Chi watches horror even though she hates it is because when she is scared, her parents will cuddle her when they all sleep together and she loves that.

Chi gets her love for teasing from her mother. Hence, much like with Takagi and Nishikata in the past, Chi and her mother constantly have competitions and teasing sessions. Chi tries her best to tease her mother and win in the competitions that they have but always fails to do so. She often tries to do a lot of things which she is not allowed to do without telling her mother, one of the most frequent ones being, trying to eat Manjus (steamed buns). However, she fails every time. She often teams up with her father, Nishikata, in order to tease her mother or defeat her in a competition but even with her father's help, it is no use. After all, even though she is a mischievous girl, nothing can get past her mother, the teasing master herself.

Takagi (Moto) is always there for her daughter and spends almost all her time with her daughter. She is a great mother and always manages to make Chi happy. However, she is also firm and strict when necessary and teaches Chi lessons through teasing. Takagi (Moto) loves teasing her daughter and having competitions with her. Takagi (Moto) often teases Chi by saying that she is just like Nishikata. Chi's favourite doll, Tanusuke was given to her by her mother. Chi is one of the most precious to Takagi (Moto).

Even as a middle schooler, Chi and her mother have their teasing sessions and competitions. Of course, Takagi (Moto) still wins. Chi's mother often teases her about a boy classmate of hers who she often hangs out with and has a crush on, especially because Chi gets so easily embarrassed about such things, much like her father. Chi once tried teasing her mother about her father because she wanted to make her blush about such things the way her mother does the same to her but even that backfired.

The Nishikata family love spending time with each other whether it is at home, when they go for a simple walk, shopping, going to the park or special outings like fishing or going to the water park. Wherever they go together, they always make happy memories, teasing and competing included.

Nishikata[]

Main article: Nishikata

Nishikata is Chi's father. Chi loves her dad and sort of idolizes him. She absolutely loves spending time with him, pranking and teasing included. Whenever he is not around because of his job as P.E. teacher, she misses him a lot and when he comes back she greets him enthusiastically. She sometimes even stops him from leaving the house. Nishikata also absolutely loves his daughter and spending time with her. He often tries to impress her and enjoys getting her validation. In Chapter 130, it is the day when one has to lie, so, Chi tells her dad that she hates him and it really hurts him even though he knows it's a lie. This and many other occasions show how much he loves his daughter and how much it would hurt him if his daughter didn't love him dearly. Chi too loves to get her father's validation. In one chapter, Chi becomes very sad because she thinks that her father might hate her for having weird features but her father immediately eradicates such thoughts and tells her that he could never ever hate her. Chi often expresses her childish wish to marry her father which shows just how much she is attached to her father. Every time topics such as boys or marriage come up, Nishikata gets very emotional and defensive, showing that he is the kind of father who wants his daughter to remain a little girl forever so that she never leaves him. They both are so attached to each other that they get upset for small things like when they are not paying attention to each other. She is daddy's little princess.

Chi and her father are like best friends. They thoroughly enjoy their time together and one of their favourite things to do together is to team up with each other and either tease or defeat Takagi in a competition, of course, they always fail. They often have competitions, bets and teasing sessions among themselves as well with Chi being the victor either because Nishikata is distracted or doesn't want his daughter to be upset or because she gets help from her mother. Even though Chi's father favours her so much, he too is strict with her when necessary though not as often as her mother. Chi and her father often try to get away with doing mischievous things but her mother always catches them red-handed. Chi and her mother sometimes tease Nishikata for loving them too much which is true, he would do anything for them.

Chi and her father's personality are almost exactly alike and as expected they share the same likes and dislikes, one of them being their dislike for bell-peppers and another one being their love for animals. They both share the trait of being embarrassed about topics like romance.

Chi loves being cuddled or carried around by her father. She feels the most safe and happy when she is with her parents. It is revealed in the Chapter 244 of (Moto) that the reason why Chi watches horror even though she hates it is because when she is scared, her parents will cuddle her when they all sleep together and she loves that.

The Nishikata family love spending time with each other whether it is at home, when they go for a simple walk, shopping, going to the park or special outings like fishing or going to the water park. Wherever they go together, they always make happy memories, teasing and competing included.

Ooshiro[]

Main article: Ooshiro

As a middle schooler, Chi almost always hangs out with a boy who is her classmate and they sit right next to each other at the back corner of the class. They used to be childhood playmates too but Chi does not seem to recall him, however, he remembers her from his childhood. According to the boy's former elementary school classmate, he would remember a girl he likes which he admits is true.

Various incidents, including all the blushing, heavily imply that Chi and this boy both have mutual romantic feelings for one another but are too embarrassed to admit it. One of them being that Chi got very flustered and hit him when he tasted the miso soup that she made and said he wished he could have food like that every day. Another instance is when he easily understood that Chi wanted a balloon even though she didn't say anything and bought it for her. They are always seen walking home together both in Karakai Jouzou no (Moto) Takagi-san and in Nishikata-chan. In Chapter 106.5 of (Moto), Chi thinks about taking hand-made chocolates for him but gets embarrassed immediately thanks to her mother's teasing and tries to back out of giving chocolates to him. Chi's mother often teases her about him. Once she thought her mother said that he likes her which made her blush but her mother finished the sentence by saying that he likes to tease her which really frustrated Chi. In Chapter 129.5 of (Moto), Chi says that she really loves her pet dog, Kurosuke. While she is describing what she loves about Kurosuke, her mother interrupts her by saying that Chi is describing the kind of boys she likes. Chi becomes indignant and denies what her mother said but when she realizes that Kurosuke really does share many similarities with her classmate and that she was in fact, describing her classmate, she immediately gets flustered. When her mother says that she really does love Kurosuke, Chi tries to act cool and says that she doesn't like him all that much because that would mean that she is admitting to her feelings towards her classmate. In Chapter 2 (Nishikata-chan), they decide to go to some place together.

They both have competitions and teasing sessions all the time which the boy always wins. He teased her even when they were little children. One time when the boy won, as the consequence for the competition, the boy asked Chi to call him by his name. She agreed to do so but on the condition that he call her by her name too. Their relationship is a lot like Takagi's and Nishikata's in the past except that Chi's classmate is not mischievous like Takagi and is instead more straightforward. Teasing and competitions aside they both seem to enjoy each other's company both as children and as middle schoolers.

Chi's Friend[]

Main article: Chi's Friend

She seems to be Chi's closest friend in class. They have lunch together. Chi is quite dense, so, her friend tries to get her to see things more clearly. She seems to be the only one to notice the obvious connection between Chi and her seatmate and tries to make them both realize this fact.

Kurosuke[]

He is Chi's beloved pet dog. Chi thinks he is very cute. She loves everything about him: his short black hair, the way his eyes make him look like he has a bit of an attitude and how he acts cool but is really very kind. She also seems to love cuddling him.
