Ooshiro is a supporting character of the spin-off series, Karakai Jōzu no (Moto) Takagi-san and is the male protagonist of Nishikata-chan. He is Chi Nishikata's childhood playmate and her seatmate in middle school.
Appearance[]
He is a young boy who has spikey black hair and black irises/pupils which are smaller compared to the other characters. He has droopy eyes and usually maintains a stoic facial expression unless he is amused, surprised or happy. He wears casually clothing when he is outside playing. He seems to prefer hoodies and pants, otherwise he wears a sleeveless top.
As a middle schooler, he is of average height. He has sharp features which is a contrast from his appearance as a child when he had a rounder face. At school he wears the typical boy's uniform, a black button-down shirt with yellow buttons and black pants.
Personality[]
He has a very relaxed and cool attitude and is very smart from a young age. Most notably, he is very blunt and usually admits to things very easily because of which Chi is often caught off guard. He mostly never gets flustered but even if he does it goes unnoticed because of his usual calm demeanor. He seems like he is an indifferent person but he is actually very kind and caring (Chi is the one who said this, though subconsciously and indirectly).
He is the kind of person who is probably good at most things, some of them being sports and cooking. Most importantly, he is good at teasing Chi. Every time they tease or compete, he always wins. He always takes Chi's challenges in stride and is never fazed when she tries to prank him.
Relationships[]
Chi Nishikata[]

He almost always hangs out with Chi. Chi is his classmate and they sit right next to each other at the back corner of the class. They used to be childhood playmates too but Chi does not seem to recall him, however, he remembers her from his childhood. According to the his former elementary school classmate, he would remember a girl he likes which he admits is true.
Various incidents, including all the blushing, heavily imply that he and Chi both have mutual romantic feelings for one another but are too embarrassed to admit it. One of them being that Chi got very flustered and hit him when he tasted the miso soup that she made and said he wished he could have food like that every day. Another instance is when he easily understood that Chi wanted a balloon even though she didn't say anything and bought it for her. They are always seen walking home together both in Karakai Jouzou no (Moto) Takagi-san and in Nishikata-chan. He always seems to do nice things for her and even compliments her, despite his teasing. He once saved her from falling and shared his Christmas snacks with her. He ate her bell peppers for her because she hates them and he even admitted that he did it for love but Chi was too oblivious to notice. He has made it pretty obvious that he likes her but much like her father, she is unable to notice such things because of embarrassment and nervousness. He too seems to fail to notice her feelings towards him. In Chapter 2 (Nishikata-chan), he asks Chi if she wants to go someplace with him and she agrees to it. He has received chocolates from Chi both as a child and as a middle schooler.
They both have competitions and teasing sessions all the time which he always wins. He teased her even when they were little children. One time when he won, as the consequence for the competition, he asked Chi to call him by his name. She agreed to do so but on the condition that he call her by her name too. Their relationship is a lot like Takagi's and Nishikata's in the past except that Chi's classmate is not mischievous like Takagi and is instead more straightforward. Teasing and competitions aside they both seem to enjoy each other's company both as children and as middle schoolers.
Chi's Friend[]

Chi's friend used to be his classmate in elementary school. They are classmates in middle school as well. She greets him on the first day of middle school but he doesn't seem to recognise her, however, they still exchange pleasantries. She seems to be the only one to notice the obvious connection between him and Chi and often tries to make them both realize this fact.

- His relationship with Chi is very similar to Takagi's and Nishikata's relationship in the past, except in their case it is he who teases Chi.
- He used to be Chi's childhood playmate but she does not remember him.
- He shares a close resemblance with Chi's pet dog Kurosuke.
- Like Chi, he dislikes bell peppers.
